Technologies to target specific audiences:

Facebook is 1 of most popular social networking site in the world; people share they thoughts, pictures and videos with each other and can keep in contact with long lost friends. The main features facebook have for advertising is;
• Joining groups
• Becoming fans of actor/films etc.
• Advertising on the side of facebook i.e. trailers
• What they think about films good or bad

Online shopping: links and adverts that suggest what other items you may want to buy persuade you to look at more film products that may be a particular genre. one example of this is the asda website it displays images of clothing, food and other items(electrical etc.) these images promot spiecif items for teh time of year eg christmas ideas. if you've ordered a certain food product it will provide other food and ideas on hwo to prepare your food.

Social networking: information on profile give indications to what you are interested in which allows sites to promote and advertise what you like ion your homepage and profile. Viral marketing could also happen on social networking sites and people can send links to each other increasing new films popularity.
Fopr example on facebook you can have a variety of options such as groups and fan clubs that send you notifications and news updates whne new events occur in a particular group e.g if you joined the group 'warner brothers' you will recieve notifications on what warner brothers are up to.its easier to connect with people through you likes and dislikes.

Billboards: target a wide audience because they presented everywhere around local areas. You can’t miss them because they are hugely displayed and in your face. for example billboards are usually placed along main roads/streets where many people will drive by and see them, attracting a wider audience, they are also a passave form of advertisment meaning you arent required to receive the advertisment of information yourself.

Text messaging and phones: companies send you message with new film releases and offers such as orange Wednesdays which offer a cheaper deal. This advertises a new film release as well as increasing a network popularity, for example orange offer orange wednesday with cinemas which give you 2 tickets fro the price of one, they also send text messages telling you when new films are out and what you can receieve from this offer.

Email: Companies’ can email you telling you of new offers if you subscribe, or become a member. You receive constant information on new releases. many people receieve spam emials from companies telling them of new offers and items that are on sale, for example when you register to a site you have to give in your email so the site can contact you to veriify your account and to make sure the can contact you in the future with new offers or queries.

Blue ray DVDs: the increase in picture of quality persuades you to buy the same DVD but on blue ray. A good marketing method is when a dvd is sold of a certain movie and the blue ray si then released in better quailty people feel forced to buy the same dvd but in blue ray in order to get the better quality film.

Blogs and podcasts: published critics- the audiences are free to give their opinion and review the films they’ve watched controlling the increase/decrease of films popularity. For example they have advertisements on the side of the pages and podacssts have links to other podcasts.

Tv Drama - generic conventions

I have chosen to review a scene from Benidorm, i will be analysing the first minute of the scene.

Characters: Madge - Mouthy, funny, quite naughty character who seems to have a strong opinion on people.
Other lady- seems quite rude but she has reason to because Madge has just insulted her.

Stories:
Benidorm is set in a holiday resort where a family stays but there is always some corruption that occurs. This is mostly in an outside location which is around the swimming pool, which uses outside effects of natural daylight.

Camerawork:
This particular clip has lots of different sorts of shots, these are shot/reverse shots to show interaction between characters, over the shoulder shots to show the characters talking to one and other, mid-shots of the characters faces and close ups to show the characters emotions. Dialogue is also used in this clip. The editing in this scene is very precis and uses matchon action, also it sticks to the 180 degree rule.

Music:
The music used for this clip creates more tension between the characters and suspense, the music used for this certain clip in Benidorm really relates to the Spain theme and also because these lady's are arguing it sound like it a battle going on like in bull fighting they use similar music. Icons in the music symbolises the genre. Using different music can give a different interpretation of what is happening.

UK film council

We work to make non-mainstream films more accessible in three ways:
• Improving access – our Digital Screen Network is made up of 240 digital screens across the UK that now show non-mainstream regularly.
• Raising awareness – Our Prints and Advertising Fund provides £4 million every year to help British distributors promote non-mainstream films.
• Increasing the UK's leading websites for film fans looking to watch, buy, download or rent great films..

Mainstream cinemas: available to general public usually ties in with coporate or commerical entities.

Independant: produced mainly outside of a major film studio. most mass markerted films are low budget.

Merchandising

Product Placement: is where brand names and merchandise are used in a film or advertising to present the product or promote an upcoming film.
Synergy:in general, may be defined as two or more agents working together to produce a result not obtainable by any of the agents independently.
The boat that rocked used many advertising strategies for example: move trailers, posters, and product placement.
The boat that rocked has a wide well known cast with different types of comedians widening the target audience, actors such as:bill nighy, phill hoffman, rys ifans, and nick frost. The usa released trailers of a narrator saying: in 1966 the British government banned rock 'n' roll on the radio. Until one American deejay and a band of renegades launched a radio station on the high seas and raided the air waves."
An important marketing factor for the film is that its based ona true sotry therefore envolves real life events and a historic background.

An example is James bond because this film teamed up with sony to advertise sony products and promote the new james bond film, sony merchandise features in the film and danial graig the present james bond features in an advertisment for sony. this promotes both the film and the product. James bond popularity is so great because it was preivously a book in 1953 by ian flemming and is the longest running character and the most successful.
